It is true. Someone dies in the latest Harry Potter. I will not say who, how many, how, or anything else.
All I will say is that it was sad and they will be missed.
Goodbye Potter Person
I sat in front of my computer refreshing the UPS tracking screen every few minutes. (Not so) Patiently I waited. The doorbell rang and instantly I was there. At my feet was a box and off in the distance was Ye Ole’ Postman off to his mail sled. I ripped open the box and it was my Harry Potter book. Now the fun begins…
The day has arrived! It is Harry Potter Day. Since 8 am yesterday my UPS shipment from Barnes and Noble has been out for delivery. I am still waiting. My wife has already bought HER copy from a store this morning and she wont tell me where she hid it.
Oh the humanity of it….
More to follow on Potter Quest ‘05!
May 19th at 12:01 am was a long awaited moment. It was the moment that Star Wars: Return of the Sith was to start. I sat in the movie theatre with friends and family, an island of something closer to reality than the many Jedi’s, Wookies, Vaders and even a few Ewoks that surrounded us. At least, I really really want to hope that we were closer to reality than they were.
We sat in the theatre waiting. At around 12:15, after 15 minutes of wookie howls and Yoda speak from the crowd. The previews started. And lasted for nearly 1/2 hour.
So now its 12:45. A mostly exhausted crowd stares at a screen filling with the fleet battle that opens the movie. It is then that the real waiting begins. The waiting for the moment. Not just any moment, but THE moment when Anakin Skywalker ceases to exist and Darth Vader is born. This moment is not even the simplistic point in time when the name changes. It is the moment when you look upon the boy named Anakin and realize he is Darth Vader. The moment when the voice doesn’t seem right. It is not deep enough. Or menacing enough. This is THE moment.
I will not post any spoilers. So go watch the movie. Look for THE moment.
Enjoy.
I just returned from the movie about 42, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy for those that have not seen it or read the books. Having read the books, I was eagerly anticipating the slightly watered down rendition on the big screen. I was not disappointed. While the story was tweaked a bit, and the smartest creatures on the Earth had a new attitude, it was still well worth watching.
Go and enjoy…
